A Message From The Chairs
We would like to welcome you all to ISVCS 2008 and to Dublin. ISVCS seeks to bring together researchers, developers, and practitioners from academia, industry and government interested in building and using vehicular computing systems, middleware, protocols, services and applications. It has been our honour to serve as General Chairs for this inaugural event. The technical program of ISVCS 2008 consists of 23 top quality research, position and industry practice papers. The keynote speeches will be given by three luminaries in the area Gregory O’Hare, John Leonard, and Hannes Hartenstein and will be shared with MobiQuitous 2008, which is collocated with ISVCS 2008. The exciting demonstrations and posters will also be shared.
Many people have helped making this symposium a success. We would like to thank the organizing committee for their excellent service. In particular we would like to thank Raj Rajkumar and Raja Sengupta, the TPC Chairs, Fan Bai, the Industry Chair, Sam Reisenfeld, the Poster/Demo Chair, and Alastair Beresford, Han-Chieh Chao and Giovanni Pau, the Publicity Chairs. We would especially like to thank Aline Senart for all her help with managing the conference web site, Cormac Driver and Ching-Ling Huang for their assistance in managing the conference paper submission system and the industry team Tibor Kovacs, Stéphane Amarger, Massimiliano Lenardi, Andre Weimerskirch, and Vinuth Rai for their liaison with industry.
We are also grateful to the ISVCS steering committee, chaired by Imrich Chlamtac, that was helpful in advising on early choices in planning the symposium and to the Mobiquitous organizing committee, especially, Vinny Cahill and Liviu Iftode, for their excellent collaboration towards organising this joint event. Last but not least, we appreciate the support of the ICST staff, particularly, Dorothy Bany and Karen Decker; without Dorothy, this symposium would not have been possible.
We acknowledge the invaluable co-sponsorship of ICST and CreateNet. We also thank Lero for their support.
We hope you enjoy the symposium and Dublin.
René Meier and Eylem Ekici
General Chairs, ISVCS 2008
